The Choirs

Saint Joseph of Arimathea in Berkeley is the Chapel for the Provincial Seminary and the Chapel of the Archbishop of the Anglican Province of Christ the King. Consequently, the members of the choir wear purple cassocks, signifying their role in the Bishop's immediate community.

The goal of the music program is to maintain the fine tradition of Anglican Church music and to serve as a model for the parishes in the Province. This tradition is maintained by our small professional choir, the Chapel Choir.

The Staff:
Robert Melhuish, Director of Music and Organist
Matthew Weber, Choir Director
Esther Crisculoa de Laix, Assistant Organist

The Sunday mass sung by the Chapel Choir is structured to maintain all aspects of the choral tradition in the liturgy, encompassing plainchant, polyphony, early motets, and later forms of Anglican music as resources permit.
