St. Athanasius Moves to Glen Allen

March 2005

St. Athanasius Anglican Church in Ashland, Virginia, a family oriented mission, has moved to the Veterans of Foreign Wars building in Glen Allen, VA 1/2 mile west of Elmont Road on Cedar Lane and the Elmont Ruritan Building. Established in the summer of 2003, by Fr. Charles Nalls of the parish of Christ the King in Washington, D.C., and Fr. Samuel Edwards of St. Mary the Virgin parish in Ft. Washington, Maryland, St. Athanasius had been meeting at Mt. Hope Methodist and then the Elmont Ruritan Club & Community Center.

The move to the VFW offers a paved parking lot and greater access for disabled persons as well as multiple class rooms. 9:00 AM Christian Ed classes are forming. Alternating services of Morning Prayer and the Eucharist at 10:00 AM, followed by Fellowship. The Rt. Rev. Dr. William C. Wiygul, Bishop Ordinary of the Diocese of the Southern States recently visited and celebrated Holy Communion at the Elmont Ruritan.

We wish to thank Mt. Hope Methodist, the Elmont Ruritan and the VFW for their hospitality and support.
