Trinitytide 2003

Father Rocco Florenza Consecrated Bishop of the Diocese of the Eastern States

Fr. Rocco Aldo Florenza was consecrated as Bishop of the Diocese of the Eastern States on the Vigil of Pentecost, June 7th, 2003, at the Pro-Cathedral of the Resurrection in Ansonia, Connecticut, by Archbishop Robert S. Morse, assisted by Bishop Frederick Morrison and Bishop James Provence. The Pro-Cathedral was crowded for the consecration, as was the parish hall for the reception that followed. Bishop James Provence was the homilist, and he preached on the sacred trust reposed in the bishops of Christ's Church.

Bishop Florenza was ordained deacon in March 1985 and priest in October 1985 after studying at George Mercer Seminary in Long Island and General Theological Seminary in New York City. He served the Church of the Advent in New York from 1985 to 1987, and has been the rector of the Pro-Cathedral of the Resurrection in Ansonia, Connecticut, since 1987.
