Advent 2006
Pilgrimage to Fond du Lac
The Pilgrimage to Fond du Lac and the Shrine of Bishop Grafton
was the highlight of this year's Provincial life. Pilgrims came
from across the nation. Many said that they had come before and
planned to come again. The pilgrimage is not only a deep religious
experience but also an opportunity for the Province to gather as
a national body.
Fr. Paul Russell, Ph.D., academic Dean of the Seminary of St. Joseph
of Arimathea, gave a fascinating lecture on Archeology and Geography
as Helps to Understanding the Bible.
The Archbishop presented the new plans for a library and dormitory
for the St. Joseph of Arimathea Theological College. The National
Clericus met with the Bishops to discuss the pastoral and spiritual
life of priests and there was the opportunity to meet and talk to
members of the Province, both clergy and laity, Pilgrims from around
the country, met at worship services, meals, and casual gatherings.
The next important Pilgrimage will be held in 2008 to celebrate
the 30th year of the Province of Christ the King.
The high point of the Pilgrimage is the solemn candlelight procession
to the Shrine of the Blessed Charles S. Grafton in the magnificent
cathedral of St. Paul, which Bishop Grafton helped design and build.
As the Litany of the Saints is sung in procession you are carried
out of yourself into the realization that "life is a pilgrimage
into God with God."
