From the Archbishop
Lent
2007
Dear Brethren:
In this year 2007 we see the constant fragmentation and division
of the Episcopal Church. The tragic position of so many parishes
separating from the National body because of the moral failure of
their church is sad. The weak attempt to justify their leaving is
incredible.
The 1976 Minneapolis, Minnesota General Convention of the Episcopal
Church voted to radically change the faith of the Church. The Province
of Christ the King held that once the discipline and order of the
Catholic faith was rejected, confusion would increase. Cynical bishops
under the influence of the Zeitgeist came forward to reject the
Bodily Resurrection and the Incarnation of Christ. Obviously the
moral values of the Church were swept away in this theological chaos.
At the 2006 General Convention of the Episcopal Church meeting again
in Minneapolis the House of Bishops voted not to affirm the Nicene
Creed.
Today we see Episcopal churches trying to justify their departure,
searching into the far corners of Africa for legitimacy. They still
refuse to accept the reality that they were willing over this extended
period of time to be in communion with Bishops who reject the Resurrection
of Christ. They leave, forgetting that the source of their sorrow
was the denial of the Creeds, Scriptures and Apostolic Tradition.
We of the Province can only be grateful for the Grace of God who
has led us through this desert of unbelief with unyielding faith
in Christ our King.
With every good wish and blessing for a Holy Lent,

The Most Reverend Robert Sherwood Morse
